Rain doesn’t have to get in for moisture to form inside. Water vapour can condense on cold steel, creating droplets even in a watertight container.
The XL Vent Container’s patented airflow features help reduce the risk of condensation and dampness.
Two supersized door vents, vents along both sides and a recessed airflow rail help air move through. The recessed rail leaves a route for air when containers are placed back-to-back or close to a wall.

What’s the difference between a new and a used 10ft container?
A new 10ft XL Vent Container is built from corten steel, has storage features built in and comes with a 5-year wind-and-watertight warranty. A used 10ft is cut down from a larger 20ft or 40ft container and repainted externally with marine grade paint. It costs less, includes a security lockbox and comes with a 3-month wind-and-watertight warranty.
What are the dimensions of a 10ft container?
Externally, a 10ft container is 9ft 10½in long, 8ft wide and 8ft 6in high (3m × 2.43m × 2.59m). Inside, it measures 9ft 4in × 7ft 8in × 7ft 10in, giving around 72 sq ft of floor space.
Can a 10ft container be used for shipping?
A 10ft is not a standard shipping container size, so it isn’t typically shippable on deep sea routes. Certain types are accepted at smaller ports, for example on boats supplying oil rigs. In that case you’ll need one of our new 10ft containers with CSC certification, so tell us before you order. For deep sea shipping, choose a 20ft ISO container or larger.
Can I choose the colour?
Yes. Our used 10ft containers can be repainted in any dark colour, such as green, at no additional cost. New 10ft containers are available in green or blue.
Are used 10ft containers in good condition?
All our second-hand containers are guaranteed to be structurally sound and come with a 3-month wind-and-watertight warranty, so most customers buy without visiting. You’re welcome to make an appointment to see stock at one of our depots if you prefer.
How should I prepare the ground?
For the doors to work properly, your container needs to sit on level ground. A railway sleeper at each end, or concrete blocks under each corner, helps keep it level, especially on grass, and helps protect the underside from premature corrosion.
Will a 10ft container fit on my site?
We usually deliver by crane-equipped lorry, so you’ll need suitable access, space to unload and level ground, plus room to open the doors. We’ll send you a delivery questionnaire, which you can return with photos and a video of your site so we can check access.
